A decade ago, credit cards were mostly used for big-ticket items
and debit cards barely made a dent on our bank accounts.
Today it is quite a different story. Almost everyone carries either
a debit or a credit card or a few of each. Cash and cheque payments
have been all but superseded by plastic cards. And their success
continues to grow, notably due to the increase of cross-border payments
(both within the real and virtual worlds) and the importance given
to the security in making payments.
