Proof of Concept Phase
  • A system based on a distributed and highly modular application architecture managed by a “business logic manager”.
  • Software scalability that enabled the system to achieve a throughput of 150 million transactions per hour was demonstrated, surpassing the requirements of 75 million..
  • Hardware scalability that was demonstrated by distributing the application modules and the database across 2 servers

Using the following technology:

  • Unix (operating system)
  • Oracle (database management system)
  • C, C++
  • Talarian middleware
  • Sun hardware (e10k, e6500)

Development of the new architecture

Xpectis is involved in all aspects of the project: business analysis, building of several significant components of the architecture (from design to implementation, through development and testing), integration testing, project management and production support.

In September 2003, the first phase of the project has been completed and the new system is now operational to support the UK Switch debit card market. In the second phase the system has been upgraded to support the cross border model and the international IPM format.

The system is built on the following technologies:

  • SUN cluster servers
  • EMC storage
  • SUN Solaris Unix (operating system)
  • Oracle (database management system)
  • Java J2EE
  • BEA WebLogic Application Server and Business Objects
