In a first phase, Xpectis developed a customized system capable of:
- The storage of thousands and thousands of documents accessible through the Internet to users,
- Document searching and retrieval by instrument characteristics and/or by free text searching of any word in any document,
- Fast on-line displaying of document images,
- Copying and pasting text from a retrieved document into another application, local printing of document images,
- An efficient method and a supporting system for scanning physical documents, indexing every word automatically
and loading the documents into a retrieval system.
This system was operational between 1999 and 2001 and was built upon the following technologies:
- Windows NT (operating system)
- Oracle (database management system)
- C++
- Adobe Acrobat Toolkit
- Net Dynamics (Application server)
As of 2000, Xpectis worked with an internal IT team in a project to select, to integrate and to customised
an electronic document management package. This product aimed at supporting the automatic handling, monitoring
and control of the overall document life cycle including external and internal steps. DOCUMENTUM was selected to
replace the customized solution. The infrastructure is operational since 2001 and evolves to accept additional
types of documents and workflows. It is integrated within the stock exchange Internet portal application to allow
controlled exchange with external financial institutions.
Since 2003, an Xpectis architect is part of the team working on the evaluation of various Enterprise Application
Integration (EAI) architectures and infrastructures to easily integrate various components of the overall IT system
including the portal and the document system.
