| As
Belgium is a market that attracts a lot of business people using roaming
services, it is important for an operator like BASE to ensure that
roaming services are attractive to the users and that these services
can be billed for in the correct manner. It is therefore essential
to ensure that the latest TAP standards, which allow the billing of
the most attractive services is in place. As the exchange of roaming
data through TAP files touches the daily work of a number of departments
within an operator, such as billing, operations, finance, fraud etc.,
it is important that the information in the TAP file is treated and
understood by the internal MIS systems.
Our client approached us to develop an interface between their
MIS system and the flow of TAP 3 files for both incoming and outgoing
information. Their MIS system was used to generate and reconcile
inter-operators invoices for roaming traffic and services
as well as for the production of marketing reports for usage analysis.
However as the TAP 3 files are exchanged in ASN.1 format, an interface
needed to be designed that would make the information readable and
understandable by the user.
